Work anywhere
Connectivity is the first thing African data work can't take for granted — and the first thing most annotation platforms silently assume. On AfriAnnotate, offline is a designed mode, not a failure state:
- The desktop app holds a genuine local mirror of the projects you choose. Annotate through a blackout; sync when you're back — your decision, shown before it happens, with edits that collide with cloud changes held for a human choice instead of silently overwritten.
- The mobile app downloads projects — tasks, media, even a speech validation pack — and queues every write in an outbox that replays safely on reconnect. Duplicates are prevented by design.
- Accounts themselves work offline. A device-only account is a first-class citizen; linking it to the cloud is an explicit, consented, receipted act.
- The platform tells the truth about connectivity — the status pill reflects actual cloud reachability, and anything that can only happen online says so clearly instead of half-happening.
